Ashfield RISE, along with Student Council, recently worked with Dress A Girl Around the World, a program that collects materials to create dresses and shorts, makes the clothing, and ships them to parts of countries where young children may not have any clothes of their own. They have sent clothing to Cape Verde, Colombia, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, and Sierra Leone, to name a few. The women who joined us were so impressed with the friendliness, respect, and enthusiasm exhibited by Ashfield students during this project. We hope the students who participated realize what a huge part they may have played in another child’s life, perhaps across the world. We later learned our clothing will go to South Africa in May, accompanied by some BSU students.
